Na Na Na Na Na Na, You Say It's Your Birthday! Na Na Na Na Na Na, It's My Birthday Too!

Friday, June 11, 2010

[Sorry about the LONG title.  I couldn't help myself.
"16 Candles" - it's a classic.]

Anyways, I do have a birthday coming up.
Yep, that's right.

It's on Tuesday and just for fun I've decided to give a little "goodie bag" to one of you (my wonderful blog friends!)  The winner will win this fabric assortment and Mod Medallions pattern!  There are thirty-five 8" squares of fabric here (enough to make all of the medallions.)

*Sorry, that they're just fabrics from my stash, but ever since I posted over at Stash Manicure I'm all about trimming down and a great way to do that is to GIVE AWAY!!!*

Just leave me a comment below telling me what the best b-day present was that you ever received or gave.  I'll pick a winner sometime on Tuesday.  Good luck!

Best present...hmmmm...my son was born less than a month before my 30th birthday...does that count?

  7. My best birthday ever was a few weeks ago ( my 50th) when my 6 children orgainised a day out for me and a birthday party that evening with all my friends. During the evening they had arranged for a very dear friend to ring from overseas as she could not be with me on the day. I was very spoiled

I just LOVE birthdays and love to do *big* birthdays for the kids. But, I'd have to say the best gift I have given was surprising my mom in Arizona for her 60th. I pulled it off and we were all able to celebrate together.

  22. One year on the eve of my birthday, I took my two youngest girls to the mall for shopping and a movie. They were in 1st and 3rd grade. They put their pennies together and made me stand in the makeup aisle of Boscovs with my back to them. They then told me to put my hand out and they chose a ring for me. They slid one ring after another on my finger until they found the PERFECT one. They went to pay and discovered they were about fifty cents short. The kind sales lady gave them the difference. I can honestly say that ring means more to me that the biggest diamond in the world. The ring was $9.99 in currency but priceless in love.

  23. The best birthday gift I ever received was a party for the BIG 50! What was so very special was that it was a surprise party given by my hubby and my best friend. She has since passed away, and I am often reminded of her sweet thoughtfulness. I really miss her/

I loved it and had it playing all summer!

There have been other editions since... "Darth & Tinkerbell - the Christmas Album" and "When Darth and Tinkerbell got engaged" - He's such and old romantic!

My BEST birthday was the year of my 30th. I had a hard time with that number...no idea why really but it was a hard one....so my husband put a sweet gift on my pillow every night for a week leading up to my birth day.....A day of glamour at the beauty parlor, a GC to get my nails done, gold earrings, sachets for my drawers and lots of girlie stuff....and on my actual big day he gave me a beautiful diamond saphire ring. That was the BEST birthday ever!!!!

Anyway, the best present I ever got was from Chris. It was this "word art" in a picture frame. He got on some program and typed in all these words that he thought described me and then all the words print out in all different sizes and colors, etc. It was so thoughtful of him...and he's usually not so sentimental. It was a good surprise.

  81. First and most importantly "HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMBER" !!! The big '32' huh...well your still just a youngster to me, I celebrated my big 60 last April and I think that was also the when I got the best present. We got married at 18 and didn't have a honeymoon because my hubby left for VietNam 5 hours after the wedding ceremony. Fast forward 42 years and for the first time in our marriage we went on a 'real' vacation, the first we have ever taken. After raising our 2 grandsons for the last 15 years, we are finally empty nesters as of about 9 months ago. Neither of us are interested in a cruise, so we decided to go to a Ranch in Arizona where we rode horses every day, ate Gourmet meals prepared by professional chefs. Met wonderful new friends from all over the world! We still stay in touch with several of them via email. We were also able to see hundreds of beautiful Hummingbirds, Cardinals, Great Blue Herons and too many other species to mention as it was the peak of their spring migration. We aren't bird watchers but it was an experience that took our breath away. We spent 10 days at this wonderful Ranch with no TV, Phones, computers, etc. (though we did have cell phones for emergency). It was like stepping back into the 1950's the moment we turned onto the road leading to the ranch. The night of my birthday they surprised me with a birthday cake that was sinfully delicious and I know it didn't fit into my heart healthy diet, but I dove into a huge piece all the same, LOL. It was the best present ever because it gave us 10 days of pure relaxation and de-stressing time. The beauty we were surrounded by while riding was overwhelming. The accomodations we not luxurious, they were lovely 50's style suites, set up for total comfort and rest. We will probably never be able to do anything like that again but the memories will be with me forever.
I hope your birthday is wonderful and filled with joy and love.

  101. Happy Happy Day! As I feel really happy to give (rather than receive), the bestest, most recent gift I gave was a quilt to a friend for her birthday. She is a fairly new friend, but when she celebrated her 50th a couple of years ago I gave her a necklace that I now know is not really her style. This quilt was to make up for that! She was so chuffed - and to see her face was the best gift of all! I love giving quilts for presents- they are always well loved!

  108. You were born on my husband's 20th birthday; he is 52 today! The best gift I ever gave was to my husband on his 40th birthday - I rented a small plane at a local airport and got a friend of mine who's an airline pilot to take my husband (and two daughters)on his first-ever plane ride. It was so awesome - and a total surprise.

  109. Happy Happy Birthday. My happiest and birthday presents were when I was young and my parents were still here. Thanks for the great giveaway and have a wonderful day.

  110. My best birthday present ever? Hmmmm....hard to pick. I did get an elliptical last year and have been losing weight, which is a gift that keeps on giving all year! (cheesy I know!)

  112. I think my best birthday present was the year my DH had a surprise birthday party for me. I was totally without a clue. My family was all there and we had such a great time.
